before it chooses the room.

The right screen is not the one with the loudest specification. It is the one that matches the projector geometry, the light in your room and the way you sit.

A practical guide for first-time UST owners and experienced home-cinema buyers.

Five things to establish first.

Projector geometry

Confirm you have an ultra-short-throw projector designed to sit immediately below and close to the screen wall.

Room light

Notice where daylight and ceiling light reach the screen. Direction matters as much as brightness.

Wall width

Allow for the full assembled frame, not just the diagonal image size. Final LUMAYNE dimensions are pending verification.

Viewing position

Consider distance, eye height and how far seating extends off-axis.

Installation path

A 100- or 120-inch fixed frame needs clear assembly space and a safe route to the wall.

Screen material

Fresnel or matte white?

Neither material is universally “best”. They solve different room and viewing requirements.

Gain and viewing angle are trade-offs, not trophies.

Screen gain

Gain describes relative brightness in a given direction. A directional surface may appear brighter on-axis while distributing less light to the sides.

Viewing angle

A wider number can suit broad seating. A more directional screen can improve light control. Ask how the value was measured, not only how large it is.

Ambient-light rejection

ALR performance depends on where the unwanted light comes from. Direct light onto the screen remains difficult for any passive surface.

100 or 120 inches

Choose for presence, not bragging rights.

At 100 inches, the image is already dramatically larger than most televisions while fitting more walls and installation paths.

At 120 inches, the image becomes truly architectural. Allow more wall width, assembly space and viewing distance—and verify your projector can create a correctly focused 120-inch image.
